Upon arriving at the Bracken Fern Manor, you step through the door and into a world that once belonged to others. The walls, the wooden floors beneath your feet, and the air that drifts through each corridor—all whisper of a time long past.
As you settle into your room, you’ll feel the tensions of the modern world melt away, replaced by the essence of a bygone era. This is the experience that Bracken Fern Manor and Tudor House offer: a sense of time travel, a portal into the lives, emotions, and world of those who came before.
In the 1800s, the land was inhabited by Native American tribes, likely including the Paiute and Shoshone, who thrived due to the abundant resources provided by aquifers from the nearby lake.
Bracken Fern Manor, originally called “The Crib,” opened on July 4th, 1926, while the Tudor House, then “Club Arrowhead of the Pines,” became a hidden retreat for Hollywood elites. The Manor, a 10-room estate with patios, a library, and a sauna, was rumored to have served as a brothel during Prohibition, while the Tudor House hosted illegal gambling and liquor activities.
Notorious mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel is believed to have funded these locations, creating a sanctuary for Hollywood’s elite and mob members. The Tudor House, with its Olympic-sized pool, was a summer escape and a hotbed for illicit activities. These places also hold dark histories, with stories of deaths—like the caretaker “Ralph”, allegedly thrown from a third-story window, and Violet, a working girl whose death remains a mystery—adding to their infamous legacy.
OC Ghosts and Legends has conducted ongoing investigations at both the Bracken Fern Manor and the Tudor House, uncovering a mix of welcoming and overwhelming energies, since 2016.
Unexplained footsteps echoed through the halls of the second and third floors, even when all team members were stationed on the first floor.
EMF devices, including our REM Pod, were heavily triggered throughout the night, and a constant feeling of being watched kept us documenting everything.
We recorded numerous instances of footsteps when no one was moving, and captured a Class A EVP calling out an investigator’s name in Ivy’s room.
The chilling encounters two investigators had in Jasmine room on the third floor were particularly unsettling.
At the Tudor House, we used experimental technology, including an SLS Kinect cam, to detect anomalies in real time. One investigator felt something beside her on the stage, and our equipment confirmed it—capturing the eerie presence on screen.
Many of us heard disembodied movement and footsteps on the stage, adding to the tension.
The Tudor House basement, is rumored to house a negative entity according to the Ghost Adventures Crew. While we do not share the opinion of Zak Bagans and his crew, it is undeniably creepy. You’ll see for yourself.

After our investigation, we’ll all retreat to our rooms, but don’t expect a peaceful rest— the spirits of the manor are known to be most active in the dead of night. Past guests have reported unsettling encounters, from doors mysteriously closing to disembodied screams and footsteps echoing down the halls. The activity doesn’t stop just because the investigation ends.

Downtown Lake Arrowhead is about 10-15 minutes away with additional lodging, in the case that there are no more rooms available in the Manor.

Heather, also known as the Honeymoon Suite, has a reputation for unexplained events.
Sleeps two in a queen bed.
Manor staff recall a hammer being mysteriously thrown about five feet toward the bathroom in this room. A housekeeper once felt something grab her ankle while standing beside the bed, but when she looked, nothing was there.
Both staff and guests have reported hearing loud crashes coming from the room at night. While the energy in Heather typically feels comfortable during the day, guests often report an unsettling feeling of not being alone, as if they’re being watched. Some have even heard footsteps pacing back and forth in the hallway outside their door.
The source of Heather’s mysteries remains unknown—your stay in this room might just add to her legend. So, lay down, relax, and if you feel something touch your ankles, don’t forget to check under the bed…

Fern, also known as the Bridal Suite, features high vaulted ceilings and is a mirror image of the Heather room. It offers a spacious bathroom with a large bathtub and sleeps two in a queen bed.
Two of our investigators, expecting a peaceful stay in the manor’s most spacious room, were in for a surprise.
They were jolted awake multiple times throughout the night by loud crashes against the wall above their heads—events that were both recorded and documented.
As they tried to fall back asleep, they were disturbed again by the sound of footsteps pacing the hallway. When they got up to check outside their door, they found no one there.

Ivy
the only room on the ground floor-

The Ivy Room is the only room located on the first floor, directly connected to the lobby and living room.
This room sleeps two, with two single beds (one being a pull-out). It’s said to have been the home of an 8-year-old boy named Ryan, the son of one of the Manor’s former residents. Our team captured what may be a Class A E.V.P. (electronic voice phenomenon) in this room, featuring the voice of a child or an adult female.
Guests from past events have also documented potential E.V.P. interactions with Ryan. Sensing the presence of a child in this room is a common experience, and he is believed to have a sweet and playful nature, especially fond of gentle, motherly women.
If you stay in the Ivy Room, consider leaving out some toys for Ryan to play with—and keep an eye on your keys!

Violet is one of the manors most famous rooms, sleeping 2 with 2 twin beds.
While Violet room remains a popular choice, the “activity” in the room has been fairly quiet these last few seasons. This could be the case of who ends up occupying the room during their stay…..
Historically, it’s reported she is not very fond of the gentleman unless you are of a loving and caring nature.
Conflicting reports state that Violet either committed suicide in this bedroom or was murdered by her lover. Her presence is legendary in terms of the manor, and she was very well liked by the men that had the pleasure of enjoying her company.
Other reports from male guests have been that they feel her presence or they are touched in the middle of the night.
It is suspected that Violet and Lilly were very close while residing here.
(Their rooms are located next to each other)
So while you stay in this room, be kind to Violet and she just may return the favor……maybe.

Great for small group
Dahlia & Daisy are two adjoining rooms that accommodate up to four people, with a shared bathroom between them. These rooms are ideal for a family or group of friends wanting to stay close together.
Located at the top of the stairs on the second floor, Dahlia & Daisy are right in the middle of all the action.
Dahlia features a queen-sized bed, while Daisy has a twin bed with a pull-out bed underneath.
When the Manor operated as a bed and breakfast, guests staying in these rooms independently submitted sketches of an eerie woman they claimed to have seen as an apparition. These drawings were submitted years apart and without knowledge of one another.
More recently, a guest reported seeing a similar woman in her dreams. The mystery remains: Who is this woman?

If you’re looking for a peaceful night’s sleep with minimal “disturbances,” Rose is a great choice.
This room sleeps two and features a king-sized bed. Rose is considered one of the more “docile” rooms, but we can’t make any guarantees.
