Built in 1923, the GEM Theater in Garden Grove, California, has captivated audiences for over a century—from vaudeville and silent films to it’s beloved modern productions. Yet behind the stage lights, this haunted theater in Orange County holds a chilling legacy of whispers, apparitions, footsteps, and lingering energy.

OC Ghosts & Legends first investigated the GEM in 2016 and again in 2020, capturing compelling evidence that suggests the theater’s former patrons and performers may never have left. Now, for the first time ever, this haunted landmark becomes the stage for our next exclusive LOCKDOWN experience.

Did you know?

On May 29, 2011 a fire broke out in the costume room of the Gem Theater. During our investigation on that exact date in 2016, OCGL investigators reported smell of smoke and a haze in the stairwell, even though no fire was burning at the time—suggesting a repeated looping of the original event.

The time was 3:20 AM, 10 minutes before the exact time the fire started
